OH EM GEE PEOPLEZ

The last post was in JUNE?!! Where the hell IS everyone? Is everyone checking in here every day or two and thinking, “Gee, no one’s posted anything new”? ‘Cos that’s what i’ve been doing.

So I’m gonna post something that’s terrible, awful, and shitty. I’m posting it so y’all can point, laugh, and feel better about your watercolor attempts. (This was one of maybe three times total that I’ve ever tried watercolors, and I cheated and used watercolor pastels.) This was from the Thursday night drawing class a few weeks ago, when we did a long 60-minute pose. And it’s total crap, but whatever, I’m posting it.

I know y’all have been drawing. Or sketching, at least. Post something!

Watercolor pencils at lifedrawing

img008.jpgimg009.jpg

Still lifedrawin’

just been to lazy to re-install scanner software on my new machine ’till today.

Got sick of the same old pencils and copics so I started trying out some new stuff.

Chalk pastel. I like how it looks but, they suck ass because they get all over your hands like charcoal… which also sucks ass. Smeary powders on my hands really bother me… Welcome to my neurosis.

Oil Pastel. muuuch more my style.

Watercolor pencils. OH MY GOD WHY DIDN’T SOMEONE TELL ME ABOUT THESE THINGS YEARS AGO SO AWESOME.

img006.jpg
OH yeah, steph bought a bunch of Color copics. Maybe I’ll try these out. neat.

Life drawing at Gaijin Studios

Gaijin Studios is holding weekly life drawing classes. Despite having a tight deadline tomorrow, we (the husband and I) went. It was a lot of fun, and the classroom is really well set up, with 10 easels and 10 horses, plus a stage for the model. Here are a few of the sketches I did.

Two 2-minute sketches

Two 5-minute sketches

20-minute sketch

I’d like to do this weekly from now on, schedule permitting. Randy hadn’t taken a life drawing class ever, so he had a bit of a learning curve and was frustrated at first, but by the 20-minute pose he was really getting into it. So awesome.

Yeah I know I can’t draw with ink, which is exactly why I make a point to try.

This was fun, My fingers were covered in charcoal/conte and to clean them I decided to try to sketch with it. I actually really like this one.

Vancouver Session.

Even though I was in Vancouver for the week I managed to go to a lifedrawing session. It was a bit different than our setup in Edmonton. More gesture oriented. The model was really good, she had a lot of dynamic poses.

And then my markers started to die.

And then they were dead with no refill in sight.

And then we got bored and started drawing the models as robots.

Got tired of the drafting pencil in a real hurry.

Tried to sketch with copics.
Copic life drawing
kinda fun actually. Ruined a couple of my best pencil drawings which were on the other side though, whoops.

You know… other than pictures of me with a wang the size of a buick…. I think this is the first time I’ve ever drawn nekkid peoples.
